Welcome to the web page of the African Institute of One Health Research & Diagnostics (AIOHRD). This web page is designed to highlight the various functions and activities of the Institute with emphasis on our research, services, consultancy and training. At the Institute, we are dedicated to carrying out research to address diseases and health issues pertinent to African countries.
Our commitment to research will lead to better understanding of diseases and, more importantly, provides the scientific evidence for informed decision-making and formulation of prevention and control programmes across the African continent. Our research will result in the development of technical innovation and products that help to prevent, detect, diagnose, treat and control diseases, with special regards to infectious and parasitic conditions of both humans and animals, as well as humans’ neglected tropical diseases (NTDs).
We are also proud of our specialised diagnostic services; indeed, our veterinary clinic and laboratory diagnostic services are accredited. Our diagnostic laboratories will support the medical and veterinary profession during outbreak and pandemic investigations.
We also provide training in specialised fields to scientists, medical practitioners, and other healthcare professionals either through formal training courses and workshops or through short-term attachment programmes. Our research is aligned with the national and international health research priority areas.
