Day Three

John was on his own this week when I came into the office. He's more quiet than Theresa and more interested in focussing on his work rather than chatting away. I was left to work on my own and so without instructions from John I began work on the social media, tweeting about the upcoming event and sharing photos on Instagram.

After a couple of hours of social media and odd jobs, John asked me to start researching potential advertising spaces for the poetry festival. I firstly looked into literary magazines, such as The Poetry Society, however the cost of their advertising was far too high. Therefore, I tried to find other, cheaper ways of advertising, such as handing flyers to local coffee shops or advertising for free on What's On Newcastle, an events website specifically designed for Newcastle. I collected all of my research wish amounted to about 10 or 11 companies, their contact, details, pricing and instructions on how to apply. I emailed this to John and then talked both him and Sinead through what I had found. They were very positive about what I gave them, particularly the free options.

Following this task, John asked me to proofread the festival programme that we were to launch that week at the next event. I found some little typos and small changes but altogether the programme was very well put together.

As it was John on his own today and he is more comfortable working on his he sent me away early.
