I arrived at the office and Theresa set me straight to work on the social media. I enjoy building up a social media presence for the company as they have admitted that it is an aspect of the business taht they let slide quite often. This took me a little while as I take the time to go through their feeds and engage with the people that they follow, building up a presence so that they will engage back.
Following this I was asked to create a list of participants for the upcoming festival as well as their publications to send to The Poetry Book Society, a company that they work alongside and who sell books at their events. I had to research every poet in the festival and find out where The Poetry Book Society could buy their books to sell during the event. I stuck with the spreadsheets and updated the APPG spreadsheet that I started last week, going through emails and making note of who was coming.
I met Sinead today, the director of the company, and had a chat to her about the work I was doing. She seemed happy with the work I was doing, however it became clear that I wouldn't see much of her and my work load would come from John and Theresa.
Pete, a volunteer within the company who helps with the technical side of things, got me onto the mac in the office in order to copy the poetry competition entries from the website into their documents. I got this finished very quickly as it was an easy task and quite monotonous. However, whilst I was doing this, a girl from Seven Stories came into the office for a meeting with John, Theresa, and Sinead. They discussed council funding as well as the structure of Seven Stories and her role within it.
Following this meeting my time at the office was done as I had a lecture to go to.
