Day 6

Today Theresa was alone when I arrived at 9, it is the Easter holidays for the University and so many people in the office take time off as well. We chatted away for a while, she was asking me how my holiday was and how the skiing was. We continued talking about this for a good half an hour whilst we both got on with work. In the past couple of weeks I've found a lot of common ground with Theresa and I feel very comfortable around her. We talk a lot, have a laugh and enjoy each others company. I have enjoyed working in the office more since we have built on this relationship and I have felt more confident in putting forward my own ideas. So I would say that I find her conversational leadership style a confidence boost as well as a comforting factor of working in the NCLA.

Theresa set me the task of designing an invitation for the launch of the festival on Canva, a publication design software often used by the company. She gave me an example in last years design, as well as the relevant information to go onto the document and I set to work. It was nice to do something creative, as usually I am working on admin or research tasks, but today I got to try to create something that they could use. I designed the invitation and uploaded the photos to the document, arranging it and reworking it until it looked professional. I sent the document to Theresa and then started on the social media. Uploading some work that I had done at home, finding quotes from critics on the participants of the festival, onto their twitter. Linda came in as I was doing this to talk to Theresa but she also complemented me on the social media and everything that I was doing for them. It was a nice confidence boost to hear that the work I was doing was making a difference, it was very fulfilling.

Theresa and Linda were talking about the close of the festival and how worried they were about the amount of tickets that they had left. In hearing this I told them that I would advertise on their social media and so set to work on creating posts on the different platforms.

Finally, Theresa asked me to sift through the emails and find the publishing houses that had given permission for their published poems to appear on the website and copy the copyright statements onto the website. Often some did not give a statement but stated that they wanted something put on to show that it belonged to them, and so I worked on referencing the material on the website for those that required it.

Following this I was finished for the day and headed home.
