It’s September 1939 in war-torn Britain and children from all over the Capital are now at risk from the imminent threat of German bombs, and families are being forced to make the difficult choice as to whether to stay or send their loved ones away
Jack Wilkins is one such child, and on the surface, he’s like any other normal eleven year old boy. But Jack is different to everyone else ...for he has the gift, and depending on how he chooses to use it, it could change the outcome of the war and even the course of history!
Ever since he was born, Jack has had the ability to bring back actual objects from his dreams. Random things at first, but as he matures, Jack is able to bring back specific items both real and fantastical, whose scope is only limited by one’s own imagination.
Evacuated to Stonebridge Manor in West Wales, Jack is drawn-in to help relieve a desperate situation, but in doing so, inadvertently reveals his gift. Now, what was once a closely guarded family secret, becomes known to the whole world and everyone is after Jack for their own self-gain. The military to use him as a weapon, the medical profession to use him as an experiment, criminals to use him for profit and the church, who fear what secrets he might reveal that could make people question the very foundation of their faith.
Set against the backdrop of World War II, this heart-warming story takes us on a journey of self-discovery as we put ourselves in the position of Jack, a vulnerable, innocent, gifted boy with a heart of gold.
In this unique moving tale, we feel Jack’s pain as he tries to stay one step ahead of those that seek to take away everything he holds dear – his family, his freedom, his friendships… and even his life.
